Is this a horror film?
My self-proclaimed Horror Movie Expert friend, is stubbornly saying that Silence of the Lambs is NOT a horror film. He simply said it's a cop drama. On the other hand, I think it is a lot more than a Law & Order episode. You have one character that freaking eats people...and you have another character that is skinning women's bodies to make a suit of women's skin to be in essence a woman. How are those things not elements of horror?

Depends on how you define a ''horror film.'' If you mean jump-scenes, gore, blonde-in-a-tank-top, type horror movie, then it's not. But there is an aspect that is generally horrifying to it. If something elicits true horror, I'd call it a horror film.
