Why didnt anyone...

Why didn't anyone tell this guy how much of a freak he was in the movie? They make it seem like everyone in the world would just be accepting of people starting relationships with AIs. He even goes on a double date with his co-worker. The world would not react like this, some people might, but there would be a lot of others who would be far from accepting of this.

The movie makes it seem like everyone who had an AI fell in love with it, not just with the Amy Adams character, but when he realizes she is talking to so many people, he notices everyone else seems to be talking to an AI while walking through the streets around him.

Rather than bringing up how different people would react to advanced AI, the movie acted like it would be totally normal and acceptable to date your software. And its fine if the movie was not trying to explore that conflict, but to act as if it wouldn't even be there make the whole thing seem even more absurd.

I fail to understand the high ratings this film received.

Maybe because people then are less judgemental than people now.

lots of people were seen in the movie talking to their devices. People now walk around seemingly talking to themselves. It took a while before people stopped saying "HI" to the person behind them in the grocery store who just said "HI" seemingly to themselves.

Also, some people in the movie took it as normal that he would love her, others saw it as weird.

That's exactly right. It's a bit of magical realism. It's still a bit weird in that universe but not completely out of left field

I'm watching it right now. I'd like to live in that alternate universe.
