Are you ready for Idris Alba as the first black Bond? I don't know, it could feel like a Shaft-remake

I agree with UnhostedProductions. Remember when fans were (and some still are) upset that Daniel Craig had blonde hair, and thus should never have been cast as James Bond? That was about a man's hair color! The character has been established and, more so, a 50 year legacy has been created. Before Pierce Brosnan was cast, Entertainment Weekly had an article stating Sharon Stone should be the next Bond. Changing the character's race, gender, or sexuality completely dismisses the legacy, and is a pathetically obvious gimmick, admitting to the world that the series has nothing left to offer in originality or creativity. Basically, it would be the defining "Jumping the Shark" moment for Bond, and it would lead to quick reboot of either the entire series. I would happily watch Alba create his own spy character in a new film, but there's no need to make a gimmick move in a series that's this long and has proven it can still deliver fresh, great entertainment.

James Bond is not black nor should he be black.
For the same reason why he should not be gay or a female.
There is nothing wrong with being any of those things, but Bond is none of them.
Instead, why not create a new action franchise for Idris Alba? Get good talent behind it and it just might succeed.
BTW, if some producer decided to remake Beverly Hills Cop and cast Justin Timberlake as the new Axel Foley, I would object as well. Why? Because Axel Foley is black and a black actor should be cast in that role.
I don't understand this need some people have of making James Bond black or gay or what have you.

It's an interesting concept. Rather see someone like Tom Hardy or Michael Fassbender in the title role though. Curious to see Danny Boyle or Christopher Nolan tackle Bond after Mendes.
