I don't think she was the ACTUAL mother of Bond - but I think after he was orphaned, M kind of took him in and helped raise him to become the man he is today.....

It said "Monique" on the headstone and, as we know, having a headstone in Bond-world doesn't mean you're buried under it. As I said previously, the theme of the movie was "resurrection" AND M's last words are "I got one thing right".
Now I know all these things are easily explained away by pragmatists, but it's a MOVIE and if you're going to "pshaw" my theory then you also have to pshaw him falling into a train off a digger and just adjusting his cuff etc etc.
