Hotel?
Wikipedia says that the plane crashed just a few miles west of an abandoned hotel. Why the hell would a hotel be in the middle of the mountains?

I just watched the History Channel doc about the crash (can't remember the name) it said the Hotel was approximately 18 miles away, but they would not have been able to cross a river.
Even if they could cross the river, the hotel would've only been helpful to a select few. It was a amazing that Nando and Roberto were able to walk as far as they did (approximate 38 miles over 10 ten days). I don't think most of the survivors could've managed the trek to the hotel...
