The last non 3D movie that hit the 1 billion was The Dark Knight
Avatar, Alice, Pirates 4, Transformers 3, HP 7 (but it was huge), Avengers, Toy Story 3, Star Wars episode 1 3D were all in 3D, the last movie that made 1 billion in 2D was TDK, and now it looks like it will be The Dark Knight Rises. Great !

Holy cow 52%?
That means more people actually watched The Dark Knight Rises than Avengers even though the latter will probably make a lot more money in the end.

52% of Avengers ticket sales came from 3D.

It'd be interesting to see how this stacks up against The Avengers in terms of ticket sales. The Avengers has made quite a bit more money than TDKR and I wonder how much of that is cause of 3D ticket sales
